Florida-Tuned
I formulate for Tampa Bay’s soil, climate, and pest cycles. Not a generic national schedule from corporate. Every round respects what your lawn is actually dealing with that month.
I designed this 6-round program specifically for Tampa Bay’s growing cycle. Fertilization, weed control, pest prevention, and soil testing — all for $59/month. Not a franchise formula. A Tim Fitzwater original.
Start Tim’s Health ProgramI’m Tim Fitzwater, and through Edge 2 Hedges I designed a Lawn Health Program specifically for Florida’s subtropical turf grasses — not from a franchise playbook, but from years of hands-on experience managing turf in Tampa Bay and ongoing UF/IFAS extension education. Serving homeowners in Brandon, Florida and throughout Hillsborough County, my 6-round program includes slow-release fertilization calibrated to each season, pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control, targeted pest prevention for chinch bugs, sod webworms, and armyworms, brown patch fungus monitoring, and annual soil pH testing. Each round is timed to Florida’s growing cycle so your lawn gets the right nutrients and protection at exactly the right time. The program starts at $59 per month and includes a free initial lawn analysis.
Brandon’s sandy soil drains fast. Nutrients wash through before your grass can absorb them. Without slow-release fertilization timed to growth cycles, your turf is starving even if it looks okay on the surface.
Florida’s warm, wet climate is weed paradise. Without pre-emergent herbicide before germination windows, crabgrass, dollarweed, and torpedo grass establish fast and steal your lawn’s nutrients.
Southern chinch bugs are the number one killer of St. Augustine in Tampa Bay. By the time you see brown patches, significant turf loss has already occurred. Prevention is 10x cheaper than recovery.
The big-box products you grab at the hardware store aren’t timed to Tampa Bay’s climate. Fertilizing at the wrong moment can feed weeds instead of your grass — or worse, burn it in summer heat.
I designed every round around Tampa Bay’s specific pest cycles, weed germination windows, and soil conditions. This isn’t something I copied from a textbook — it’s what I’ve learned works in Brandon’s climate after seven years of hands-on experience.
Pre-emergent + slow-release fertilizer (16-4-8). Blocks spring weeds before they germinate. First feeding as your lawn wakes up.
Post-emergent spot treatment + second feeding + chinch bug preventive. Catches weeds that slipped through. Chinch bug prevention starts before summer explosion.
Summer formula (15-0-15) + iron application. Switches to heat protection. Potassium for roots, iron for color without pest-attracting growth.
Targeted pest treatment + fungicide if needed. Peak pest window. Proactive insecticide prevents damage. Fungicide only if disease detected.
Fall pre-emergent + potassium-heavy (5-0-15) + soil test. Prevents winter weeds. Builds root reserves. Soil test plans next year’s adjustments.
Winter assessment + spot treatment + program review. Light maintenance. Assess, identify issues, plan next year based on soil results.
I keep these prices competitive because I want every Brandon homeowner to be able to afford a real lawn health program, not just a mow-and-go.

Pre-emergent herbicides block weeds before germination. Preventive insecticides stop chinch bugs before damage. By the time you can see a problem, it’s already costing you.

Knowing what to look for is half the battle. Here’s the short list of pests, diseases, and weeds I keep an eye on every visit.
Southern Chinch Bug — #1 St. Augustine killer. Black, 1/5 inch, white wings. Injects toxin blocking water uptake. Peak Jun–Sep.
Tropical Sod Webworm — green caterpillars feeding at night. Irregular close-clipped patches. Peak May–Oct.
Brown Patch — circular patches with dark “smoke ring” border. Late summer/fall. Worsened by excess nitrogen.
Take-All Root Rot — attacks below soil. Turf thin, yellow, pulls up easily.
Dollarweed — round leaves, indicates overwatering.
Crabgrass — summer annual, prevented by Round 1 pre-emergent.
Torpedo Grass — extremely aggressive invasive.
UF/IFAS-aligned fertilizer formulations for Central FL St. Augustine. Targeted spot treatments instead of blanket applications. Soil test once per year so we’re fixing the right thing.
